Please Note. Contrary to what is stated in the brochure Adele will not be open on the 30th and 31st May. Sincere apologies for the error, Derbyshire Open Arts.
Adele graduated in 2001 with a degree in Three Dimensional Design, specialising in metal and already possessing a HND in Textile Design, Adele has brought her knowledge of these two disciplines together and applied them within her work.
In 2002, she was awarded a ‘Next- Move business development grant by the Crafts council and became a Designer in Residence at Manchester Metropolitan University. During her two year residency, she taught and perfected her skills as a studio jeweller and designer, after which she set up her own studio in the High Peak of Derbyshire where she lives and draws inspiration from the beautiful countryside.
Inspired by nature’s colours, patterns and organic structures Adele captures these in the intricate and sculptural qualities of her jewellery, creating colourful hand dyed anodised aluminium and silver etched and pierced ranges. These methods I use to subtly or strikingly decorate or combine with the metals surface. In particular her textile/silver range echo nature’s way of encasing and protecting reminiscent of decaying seedpods and case, symbolising the skeletal forms of nature’s growth.
Her jewellery has featured in many prestigious exhibitions here in the UK and abroad, such as ‘Sofa' in America , ‘In the Making' Barcelona and 'Dazzle' UK. Her work has also been published in several contemporary jewellery books.
As an experienced tutor for the last 14 years she continues to teach Jewellery design and making in the High Peak and runs workshops for groups or one to one tuition throughout the year in her studio or at selected venues. Commissions welcome.
