I make a variety of contemporary textile based art inspired by the natural world. My pictures are created using fabric layers, mixed media, paint, free machine embroidery, dried petals and leaves. These may be mounted in a wooden frame, onto a canvas base, or in a transparent acrylic mount.
3D work includes my signature dragonfly and butterfly brooches in free machine embroidery on soluble fabric. The same technique is used to create autumn leaves mounted for display in a box frame.
Coiled cotton bowls and pod vessels are individually hand dyed in vibrant colours.
My large vessels and lanterns are made from pure silk fibres layered over tissue paper. They look delicate but are surprisingly robust. The large sculptural forms look good unlit but even better in dim light with the battery candle on.
