My name is Rebecca Webster-Lajmi and I originate from the Peak District in Derbyshire.
From 1998-2000 I completed a GNVQ in General Art and Design at High Peak College in Buxton. I spent two years studying ceramics, fashion design, 3D design, graphics, fine art, photography and surface pattern design. I really enjoyed ceramics and photography but seemed to excel in fine art.

From 2000-2003 I studied for a BA (hons) in Fine art, painting and drawing at the University of Huddersfield.

From 2004- 2005 I trained to be an art teacher, and gained a PGCE in, secondary education, specializing in art and design. I have mainly taught 11-18 year in comprehensive Schools but also worked in two independent schools teaching Art to Key stage 2. I have also taught in Adult Education and provided small art workshops.

Along the way I even spent a couple of years working as professional artist.
In April 2009 I was lucky enough to receive a grant from Derbyshire County Council with an aim to provide a range of exciting painting courses, one day workshops, demonstrations & discussions aimed the under 19’s, over 50's and rurally isolated.
I myself will be providing floral watercolour & acrylic tuition, as well as working collaboratively with other local artists (including ceramics and calligraphy) to help enable a wider range of Derbyshire residents to experience the joys of art and gain new creative skills.

In 2009 I received funding from the Princes Trust and Derbyshire County Council. Funding was given to help me provide and advertise a range of exciting painting courses, one day workshops, demonstrations, discussions and events.

Previous exhibitions have included the “Weekend Wonderland” Christmas event, the “Artist & Designers Fair”, and “The Great Peak District Fair", at the Pavilion Gardens in Buxton during 2009 and 2008.

During July and August 2009, I exhibited as part of “Zest Arts in Health”, at the clock tower gallery, in the Northern General Hospital, Sheffield.

Additionally in 2009 I participated in the Derbyshire Open Arts event, at Curbar Art show, and the “Art in the garden” event at the Botanical Gardens, in Sheffield. From May to June 2008, I exhibited at the Staden Lane Hotel, Buxton. In 2006 I exhibited at the Tourist information centre, in Castleton.

Upon returning to painting after having a family I will be exhibiting once again and 2017 looks to be a busy year

From the 1st April-15th April 2017 I will be exhibiting at the Leabrooks Gallery in Somercotes, Alfreton. Then I shall be at the Green Man Gallery in Buxton from the 28th April- 24th May 2017. I shall be participating in the annual event, Derbyshire Open Arts. My artwork will be on display at the Peveril Centre, in Castleton, from the 26th May- 4th June 2017. Additionally I will be at the West Studio’s, in Chesterfield from the 30th June-28th July 2017.
